Using Arc when TM1 is Hosted on IBM PA SaaS
Using Arc when TM1 is Hosted on IBM PA SaaS
This article explains how to set up and use Arc when IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) instances are hosted on the IBM Planning Analytics Cloud SaaS platform.
Step 1: Choose Where to Install Arc
Arc is lightweight and can run on a developer's laptop. For teams, Cubewise recommends a centralised Arc Server so all developers share the same configuration, templates, snippets, and license.
See Where to Install Arc for TM1 for a full comparison of deployment options.
Step 2: Install Arc
Follow the platform-specific installation guide:
Step 3: Choose Your Authentication Method
Once Arc is installed, the next step is to decide how to authenticate with your IBM PA SaaS TM1 instances. There are two options:
Method | Description |
|---|---|
IBM ID (OAuth) | Each developer uses their own IBM ID credentials via OAuth. Recommended for multi-user environments. See Using IBM ID with Arc. |
Non-Interactive Account | All developers share a single TM1 automation account provided by IBM. Useful for automated or service-based access. |
Key Differences from On-Premise Setup
Aspect | On-Premise | IBM PA SaaS |
|---|---|---|
Connection method | Admin host ( | Direct REST API ( |
Authentication | Native TM1, CAM, Windows | IBM ID or non-interactive account |
