Architecture
PowerConnect's two main components — the PowerConnect App Server (installed on a separate Windows server, connecting to TM1 via the REST API) and the PowerConnect Connector (installed on each laptop) — and how they work together to deliver TM1 data to Power BI Desktop and online.
Prerequisites
Everything needed to deploy PowerConnect — hardware and OS, the Microsoft Azure app registration for OAuth2, SSL with a full-chain certificate, outbound network configuration, the URLs for PA Local vs PA Cloud, the Microsoft Power BI On-premises Data Gateway, and software and remote-access requirements.
PowerConnect with PA Cloud or PAaaS
The specifics of using PowerConnect against IBM Cloud — setting up the non-interactive account for PA Cloud (v11), and the TM1-admin-only model for PAaaS (v12) where admins build, secure, and share dashboards with Power BI users.
PowerConnect Sizing Guide
How memory consumption scales with the data retrieved from TM1 — rows, numeric measures, and string data — with per-unit rules of thumb and a quick-reference table to estimate hardware before deployment.
PowerConnect Hosted on Cubewise Cloud
How the hosted offering works — Cubewise manages the App Server while you install the Connector and configure the Power BI Gateway — covering the tenant URL, Desktop vs Service data flows, responsibilities, networking and security, and common troubleshooting.
