Creating and Using Alert Templates

Creating and Using Alert Templates

Alert Templates allow you to define predefined alert configurations that can be reused to quickly create new alerts without manually configuring each one from scratch.

What is an Alert Template?

An Alert Template is a saved alert configuration with default settings (type, thresholds, notification group, etc.). Instead of configuring every field each time you create a new alert, you apply a template and the default values are pre-filled.

Creating a New Alert Template

  1. Go to the Alert Templates section in Pulse.

  2. Click New.

  3. Fill in the required details on the right-hand side of the template form.

  4. Click Save. The new template is added to the list on the left.

Migrating Alert Templates Between Servers

To copy alert templates from one Pulse server to another without recreating them manually:

  • Export — Click Export to download a JSON file containing all alert types and templates.

  • Import — On the target server, click Import and upload the JSON file to transfer all alert types and templates.

  • Reset Default — Click Reset Default to revert all alert types and templates back to their original out-of-the-box values.

Generating Alerts from Templates

Once templates are defined, you can quickly create alerts for one or more TM1 instances:

  1. Go to the Alerts page and click Generate from Templates.

  2. A new page opens showing all available templates.

  3. Select the templates you want to use.

  4. Set the Default Alert Notification Group if required.

  5. Click Next, select the environment and TM1 instance, then click Finish.

The selected alerts are created and added to the alerts list immediately.
