The Power of Search in Pulse with Elasticsearch

Pulse 6 combines IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) with Elasticsearch — bringing the speed of TM1's calculation engine together with the search and analytics power of one of the world's most widely used data platforms.

Lightning-Fast Search with Elasticsearch

Pulse continuously tracks all TM1 instances and sends data to its embedded Elasticsearch cluster on a second-by-second basis. Elasticsearch is designed to handle billions of records at high speed, making it possible to query and retrieve granular TM1 telemetry data almost instantly regardless of the volume of data accumulated.

Detailed Data Second by Second

Because Pulse sends data to Elasticsearch continuously, you can filter and analyse events at a very fine granularity — right down to the second. This means you can answer precise questions like "what was happening at 14:32:05 on the 15th?" across all your TM1 servers.

Pre-Built Dashboards for Common Questions

Pulse Explorer ships with 9 pre-built dashboards that answer the most common operational questions out of the box:

  • Are all servers and services running?

  • Who was using the application between two dates?

  • How are users accessing TM1 (Workspace, TM1 Web, Architect)?

  • What are users doing right now?

Building Visualisations and Custom Dashboards

Beyond the default dashboards, the Pulse Explorer lets you build your own visualisations from any data stored in Elasticsearch. Visualisations can then be grouped together into custom dashboards, giving you a tailored view of the metrics most important to your team.

This combination of TM1 and Elasticsearch makes Pulse a fully observable platform — you can always find a fast, data-driven answer to any question about your TM1 environment.
